Do inspections by state and local agencies, implementation of FDA’s Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) or USDA Food Safety Inspection Service’s (FSIS) activities keep you up at night?

Maintaining strong relationships with regulatory agencies with open communication benefits the entire retail food industry and the FMI Foundation Retail Food Safety Forum is your one stop shop for all your food safety regulatory needs.

Is the Food Safety Modernization Action (FSMA) on top of your mind?  If so, you are not alone.  Hear from FDA’s Senior Advisor for Policy to the Deputy Commissioner for Foods and Veterinary Medicine, Sharon Mayl, about FSMA implementation, and how the current import program will work with the Foreign Supplier Verification Program (FSVP), Voluntary Qualified Importer Program (VQIP), and auditor accreditation under FSMA.

Dan Engeljohn, PhD, Assistant Administrator, Office of Policy and Program Development,  FSIS USDA will provide updates on the regulatory activities and programs impacting retail, including:  ground meat recordkeeping, Listeria monocytogenes in retail delis, labeling of raw meat and poultry products containing added solutions, and labeling of mechanically tenderized meat.

Joe Corby, current Executive Director of the Association of Food and Drug Officials (AFDO) local regulatory officials:  Susan Kowalczyk, Assistant Director for Environmental Health, DuPage County Health Department and, Ken Rosenwinkel: Manager, Food Safety & Sustainability, Jewel-Osco will discuss building relationships that work through collaboration and communication in order to improve food safety and regulatory compliance.

Co-located with FMI Connect, the Retail Food Safety Forum is designed to provide practical solutions for retailers and assist with the challenging food safety issues that retailers face on a daily basis.  Through small group interaction with thought leaders, researchers and local, state and federal regulatory officials, retailers can learn first-hand how to build the best programs possible and solve their toughest problems.

We look forward to seeing you at the Forum, June 11-12 in Chicago, IL.
