The Food Marketing Institute Foundation was created by FMI in 1996 as a supporting organization for the Food Marketing Institute. The Foundation is a 501 (c) (3) tax-exempt public charity. The Trustees of the Foundation adopted the following Mission statement below:
"The Food Marketing Institute Foundation is a not-for-profit corporation affiliated with the Food Marketing Institute. The Foundation seeks to ensure continued quality and efficiency in the food system and is operated for charitable, educational and scientific purposes."
