FMI Foundation

The Food Marketing Institute Foundation was created by FMI in 1996 as a supporting organization for the Food Marketing Institute. The Foundation is a 501 (c) (3) tax-exempt public charity.

Mission Statement

The Food Marketing Institute Foundation is a not-for-profit corporation affiliated with the Food Marketing Institute. The Foundation seeks to ensure continued quality and efficiency in the food system and is operated for charitable, educational and scientific purposes.

Food Safety Programs

Be Food Safe (http://www.befoodsafe.org/) This program is used to educate consumers on the four basic lessons of safe food handling: Clean, Separate, Cook, and Chill. These simple steps can help prevent harmful bacteria from making your family sick. More than 50 retailers are currently participating in Be Food Safe.

Fight Bac! (http://fightbac.org/) This campaign is designed to enhance existing food safety programs in retail stores and schools. The campaign focuses on four key areas: time and temperature control, personal hygiene, cross contamination and equipment sanitize.

Safe Quality Food (SQF) (http://www.sqfi.com/) The SQF (Safe Quality Food) Institute is a division of the Food Marketing Institute (FMI), established to administer the SQF Program, a leading, global food safety and quality certification and management system.
