On May 23, 2013, USDA released a final rule which amends the country of origin labeling (COOL) regulations. The rule became effective immediately and requires labels on muscle cuts of beef, lamb, chicken, goat and pork to be changed to reflect information on where the animal was born, raised and slaughtered. Records for products of animals of foreign origin that are slaughtered in the U.S. are also required to be updated. USDA officials will be presenting the requirements of the regulation to FMI members in this webinar and will be available to answer questions.
