FMI will hold the first ever Food Industry Sustainability Summit, this will be a 2 l/2 day summit which will bring together key stakeholders in the industry – including retailers, wholesalers, suppliers, academics, NGO's, government and industry experts. The objective of the summit will be to create an opportunity for education, develop new partnerships, and help the industry move forward with innovative new sustainability strategies. Nationally recognized leaders from inside and outside the food industry will address the sustainability imperative, share their experiences and outline key challenges and opportunities. New industry research will be presented on the 'sustainable consumer' and a series of specialized sessions will focus on different sustainability best practices and opportunities – including energy, store development, sustainable purchasing, supply issues, packaging, recycling human resources, employee relations, marketing and consumer relations. Participants will be introduced to best practices, including hearing directly from retailers, suppliers and others who are reaping bottom line returns from their initiatives. Attendees will be introduced to resources, including FMI’s new Sustainability Starter Kit, which will help them to develop their own business sustainability strategies. The summit will include interactive case studies in small groups as well as a networking reception which will feature table top resources from government, NGO’s and other experts.
There will be plenty of opportunites for associate members to sponsor events at this conference. Please contact Elaine Adams at 202.220.0824 for more information.
