Join your retail and supply chain colleagues to hear from USDA and industry leaders how to implement the new COOL regulations.
USDA is expected to issue its long-awaited COOL regulations in early August, just in time for the COOL statute to take effect on September 30, 2008. COOL will require suppliers and retailers to work together to provide country of origin information for a wide range of products, including fresh and frozen beef, pork, lamb, and chicken, as well as fresh and frozen fruits and vegetables.
To ensure that the retail and supplier communities understand the new regulation and to give them the latest information and an opportunity to understand -- together -- how the new regulations will impact their businesses, the American Meat Institute, United Fresh Produce Association and the Food Marketing Institute will hold joint, informational seminars on the new COOL rules and how they will need to be implemented. These seminars will be held at 3 different, airport-friendly locations across the country from August 12 thru August 14, 2008. Each day will have two sessions: the morning session will be led by AMI and FMI and focus on COOL implementation for meat; the afternoon session will be led by United Fresh and FMI and focus on implementation for produce. USDA has been invited to participate and to answer your questions about how they will implement the new rule.
So, join USDA, your colleagues and your industry leaders to understand the new rules and how to implement them before the law takes effect.
