Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) is an aggressive new approach to product management that shifts “end-of life” responsibility for disposal and recycling away from municipalities and onto retailers and producers – much like a bottle bill, only extended to all packaging.
Over the past two years, we’ve seen a number of EPR proposals pop-up at the state and local level, as cash-strapped governments try to shift costs away from their budgets. This is a serious emerging issue that retailers and suppliers must begin educating themselves about.
Join FMI for a “members only” EPR 101 Webinar, presented by Target and Wegmans Food Markets.
Find out:
(1) What is extended producer responsibility and how could it impact your company;
(2) What are the potential threats (and the possible opportunities) offered by EPR, based on how it has been implemented in Canada and Europe and on the way supporters are proposing to implement it in the U.S.;
(3) How can you become engaged as this issue continues to evolve.
