On November 8, 2013, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) published in the Federal Register a tentative determination on the generally recognized as safe (GRAS) status of partially hydrogenated oils (PHOs). 1/ Finalizing this notice would effectively prohibit the use of PHOs in food.
