Three-Day Exhibit Culminates With Annual Retailers’ Choice Awards

WASHINGTON, DC — March 20, 2006 — Food, beverage and consumer products companies will present their latest innovations in the Fourth Annual New Product Showcase and compete for the Retailers’ Choice Awards at the 2006 FMI Show, May 7-9 in Chicago. Sponsored by the Food Marketing Institute (FMI), the annual convention is a global forum where food industry leaders learn about new and emerging trends and strategies for business growth.

The New Product Showcase will feature products in 14 different categories: bakery; beverages; condiments and sauces; dairy products and dairy substitutions; entrees/prepared foods/meal solutions; equipment; ethnic/international foods; health and beauty care; pet products; private label; processed and fresh meats and seafood products; shelf stable grocery (baby foods, canned foods, cereals, pastas); snacks, confectionary and candies; and technology. Companies submitting products for consideration may select one category per product.

To qualify, products must have been launched in the past year and they must be completely new, a category or line extension, re-launched or repackaged. In addition, product manufacturers must be exhibiting at the FMI Show or the U.S. Food Export Showcase. An entry fee of $450.00 per product is required.

Companies whose products are selected for inclusion in the Showcase will receive key benefits:

  • Exposure to more than 30,000 attendees.

  • A “New Product” logo sign to post at their booth.

  • A product and company listing in the “New Products” brochure distributed onsite.

“FMI is pleased to present the New Product Showcase to recognize outstanding product innovations that bring exceptional value and quality to consumers,” stated FMI Senior Vice President Brian Tully. “The Showcase provides attendees with a convenient introduction to products that will help them differentiate their stores and enable them to successfully compete in today’s marketplace.”

Retailers’ Choice Awards

Companies with the most popular products in each Showcase category will be presented with the 2006 Retailers’ Choice Awards. Winners will be decided by votes from retailers and wholesalers attending the Show and will be announced on Tuesday, May 9, during the opening general session.
